The third annual edition of the Indian Youth Model United Nations – Jaipur began on 27th July, 2017 at Hotel Vesta International, Jaipur. It was a moment of immense excitement as we completed three years of our conference in the Pink City, from where we started. The opening ceremony began with an introduction to our initiatives at supporting two of United Nations’ programs – HeforShe and the #GlobalGoals. The presentation further briefed everyone about the Sustainable Development Goals and how the conference theme, including committee agendas, revolve around the same.
Over the course of the next three days, delegates discussed on issues including reforms in Security Council, SALWs among others. The following committee had been simulated – United Nations Security Council, United Nations General Assembly, United Nations Commission on Status of Women and a special continuous crisis committee called the Indian Cabinet Meeting of the Indian Government, 1984 that dealt with the crisis at hand immediately after the assassination of Indira Gandhi. The International Press team consisted of able photographers and reporters.
Lots of discussions, deliberations and debates took place over the course of the conference and the Executive Board of every committee took it upon themselves to make it a learning experience for the delegates. All the committees dealt with an immediate crisis at hand as they were given a hypothetical situation. Along with three days of debates and discussions, the delegates enjoyed an upbeat Delegate Dance and Dinner as well on the second day with music, dance, food and more. It was an exciting addition to the conference.
This conference would not have been this successful without the indispensable efforts of every single person involved: the core team, the organizing committee, the delegates, the executive board members, the secretariat, the faculty members and the hotel staff. We sincerely hope that IYMUN Jaipur 2017 has been an unforgettable experience for all.
